In this economy it’s difficult to take a holiday or spare time off for fun. The Mid-West Fastener Association accommodated the industry by planning a modified shot gun start for this year’s Golf Outing. While it’s understandable that golf outing’s may not be companies’ top priorities during these times, we had a nice outing of 72 golfers and 110 for dinner.

With the recent weather we crossed fingers for no rain, that was granted, however, golfers spent the day in sweltering 90+ temperatures. The day started at 10:30 with a Putting Contest (sponsored by All American Systems). After lunch (sponsored by Star Stainless Screw), golfers headed out in carts adorned with monkeys provided by Stelfast Inc. After all it was time to monkey around for the day! Golfers headed off to enjoy the day and hope for a win on one of the many contest holes especially the hole in one prizes offered by South Holland Metal Finishing. There were no takers on the hole in one prizes although some close shots!

One of the newer contests is paying $5 to drop a signed ball into a bucket. At dinner time the bucket is dropped on the putting green and the ball in or closest to the designated hole wins half the pot. Steve Urhausen (All American Systems) was the lucky winner this year. He graciously donated the winnings back to the scholarship fund. The other lucky split the pot winner was Joanne Culverwell (Star Stainless Screw) who won our raffle winnings and also donated it back to the scholarship fund. Thank you to these two winners for donating to the MWFA Scholarship Fund. Additional proceeds from the MWFA Golf Outing are put towards MWFA Education and Scholarship Fund.
