At the September NFDA meeting held in Chicago, IL, Don Westby of Westby Production Components, Inc. announced that he will be retiring from day-to-day operations of his company. He introduced Dave Schmitting, current Sales Manager of Westby Production Components, who will be assuming the position of General Manager effective October 1, 2009.

In the fall of 1987 with over 20 years of working in the fastener industry in sales and engineering, Don began his own company presently located in Port Washington, WI. The company has experienced steady growth in its 20+ years. With an experienced staff, Don has determined he can take some time to enjoy retirement... "doing some things he wants to do, some things he needs to do, and some things he will do as he goes along". Don and his wife, Linda, will remain as owners and, as always, Don will be available for engineering / consulting as needed.

Dave began his fastener career in 1977, learning the fastener business from the warehouse up and into sales and operations. Dave came to Westby in fall 2008 after meeting with Don at several industry events. Sensing a kindred spirit, Don was able to convince Dave he would be a great fit for Westby Production Components. Among his other supervisory and sales related duties at Westby, Dave is presently managing the computer conversion from IST UNIX to IST Windows and working with the Westby warehouse team to evaluate physical changes in inventory organization.
